The box's top and bottom are both hand lapped to ensure an almost seamless mating surface between them when the box is closed.

The crescent moon is gold leaf. The shaded portion of the moon is silver leaf, made to look like craters in the moon. Most of the other box gilding is silver leaf and Dutch metal. There is some copper leaf in small areas to accent the adjacent regions. Blue-green mica powder is applied to give a glow to the area around the moon.

 
Jewelry box interiors are lined with black Ultra Suede. Stainless steel hooks are added inside the lid for hanging necklaces and chains. An Ultra Suede pouch in also added for better organization of necklaces.
Jewelry box trays are made of Lace and Rose woods. Tray dividers and lower box dividers are both Rose wood as well. An Ultra Suede tray insert is also included.
